Q:
How to test the GPS receiver in PDA to check
if it can work properly?
1. Please find the CD delivered with each
unit of our GPS receiver, and put it in the CD
Drive.
2. Open the CD,
you can find "GPS1xx/ GPS2xx Tester" folder; "GPT6xx/ GPT7xx
Tester"; and "USB Driver" folder...
3. Open "GPS1xx/ GPS2xx Tester" folder; copy "PDA Tester.exe" to
your CF/ SD card, put CF/ SD card back to your PDA.
4. Open "File Managers" - "My Devices" - "SD or CF Card" in PDA, and
run "PDA Tester.exe"
5. Click on "SCAN" button to scan the COM port.
6. GPS data strings such as below will be displayed in the window,
when the COM port found.
$GPRMC,105437.208,A,2410.4786,N,12038.9185,E,0.00,52.22,110603,,*38
$GPGGA,105438.208,2410.4783,N,12038.9186,E,1,04,4.1,115.5,M,,,,0000*0E

7. The signal strength and satellite status will be displayed, if
the signal is strong enough.

How to test the GPS
receiver in PC to check if it can work properly?

3. Open "GPS1xx/
GPS2xx Tester" folder; then "PC Tester
1.4A.exe", "GPS 1.4A" testing program
window will be shown up.
4. Select the
baud rate (4800 or 9600), set the COM port, and
choose the command "GS 99.0 99.0" or the
others for your test; click on "OK" to send
command; click on
"ON" bottom to start the tester.
5. GPS data
strings such as below will be displayed on the
top right

Q:
How to connect the GPS
receiver to my PC or Notebook?
If you want
to connect our PS/2 GPS receiver to your PC or Notebook,
you must get a PS/2-USB converting cable from us, and
plug the GPS receiver to the USB Port (not PS/2 port for
keyboard/ mouse) of your computer - AFTER you have
installed the driver for the converting cable. Please
make the following installation & setting, before you
connect GPS201 + PS2-USB converting cable to the USB
port of your computer.
1. Find the CD delivered with each unit of our GPS
receiver, and put it in the CD Drive.
2. Open the CD, you can find "GPS1xx/ GPS2xx Tester"
folder; "USB Driver" folder...
3. Open "USB Driver" folder; then run & install "USB GPS
Driver.exe" to your PC
If you want to know at what COM port the USB cable is
connected, please check it as follows:
a). right click "My Computer"
b). select "Management" (G)
c). left click "Devices Manager"
d). un-fold "COM & LPT Port"
e). find out the port for "Prolific USB to Serial COM
Port"

Q:
Why my GPS
receiver can not communicate with my computer?
1.
Make sure the GPS Baud rate is set correctly (4800 or
9600).
2. Set GPS NMEA to 0183B. M 3. Set COM port to 4800
baud, 8 bits per second, no parity, one stop bit.
4. Disable or remove any conflicting software from the
COM port.

Q:
Why my GPS
receiver can not track the satellites?
1. GPS receiver can work only
under open sky; it can not receive GPS signal
indoors.
2. Check the initial
position, time and date shown in the GPS display, make sure
they are correct.
3. Initialization can take up
to 10 minutes with a clear view of the sky.

Q:
Why my GPS receiver needs
long time to track the satellites?
It is possibly because the GPS microwave is too feeble. The influence of the satellites microwave on GPS reception is occasionally non-predicable. Different time/ different place, the microwave’s intensity will be different.

Can my GPS receiver work under bad weather?
GPS
works 24 hours a day, anywhere in the world. It will be
not affected by the bad weather.

What kind of
e-map I should use for my GPS navigation?
Generally speaking, our GPS products are compatible with the
e-map/ navigation software which support NMEA 0183 and
WGS84. Please choose the navigation e-map accordingly.
